The development of training programs for the École des Métiers du Tourisme, de l'Hôtellerie et de la Restauration (EMTHR) in Benin has officially begun. From October 2 to 4, 2024, the Agence de Développement de l'Enseignement Technique (ADET) organized a workshop to initiate the creation of curricula focused on preparing students for careers in the tourism, hospitality, and restaurant sectors. This important step aligns with the government's goal to establish the EMTHR as a leading institution for training in these fields.
The workshop, held at Hôtel Azalaï in Cotonou, brought together experts from the École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and the École d’Hôtellerie et du Tourisme du Luxembourg (EHTL). It focused on the critical task of conducting a job situation analysis (AST) to inform the competency frameworks for various professions. These frameworks will serve as the foundation for future training programs, ensuring the quality and relevance of education for students entering these industries.

The resulting programs will offer Diplomas of Technician (Dtm) and Higher Technician (Dtsm) qualifications and are expected to be implemented across both public and private institutions in the coming years, solidifying Benin's reputation for excellence in tourism and hospitality training.

This initiative reflects the government's dedication to providing high-quality education that aligns with the needs of the workforce, helping to bolster the country's growing tourism sector.
