EHL, the world's top hospitality management university, is expanding its Vocational Training Program in India in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Partnering with iconic hotel chains like ITC Hotels and The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), EHL is pioneering a unique education initiative that blends classroom theory with on-the-job experience.
This innovative program, launched in 2021, allows students to undergo training directly under the guidance of line managers at the hotels. With a curriculum modeled after the renowned Swiss dual education system, students split their time between classroom sessions and real-world training, preparing them for promising careers in the hospitality sector.
Currently operational in 8 prime locations with ITC Hotels and IHCL Hotels, the VET by EHL program is set to expand to additional cities, creating a pipeline of top talents for the hotel industry. Upon completion of the 18-month diploma program, apprentices have the opportunity to join the hotel's workforce.
"CII's commitment to providing industry-aligned programs has achieved remarkable success through the VET by EHL Programs. With plans to expand to more hotels next year, we aim to build a robust talent pipeline for India's hospitality sector," said Sougata Roy Choudhury, Executive Director, Confederation of Indian Industry.
"This collaboration signifies a transformative shift in hospitality education, emphasizing practical experience as a vital tool for training industry-ready talents," added Aman Aditya Sachdev, Director and Country Head India at EHL. Applications are open for trainees registering in the next intake starting in February 2024.
