The School of Hospitality Business & Management (SHBM) at University Mohammed VI Polytechnique (UM6P) has recently achieved the status of “Certified” school within the EHL Certified School Network. This milestone reflects SHBM's commitment to excellence in hospitality education and solidifies its position as a leading African institution.
SHBM is currently the only EHL-certified school in Africa and the 1 school in Morocco to reach the EHL Certified School level.
Since its first intake in 2020, SHBM has aimed to nurture talents, knowledge, and innovation for a sustainable impact in hospitality and tourism management. The school’s mission is to uplift the knowledge and competencies in the African Hospitality and Tourism industry by training ethically and socially responsible leaders with an entrepreneurial and resilient mindset. SHBM also strives to support the industry’s sustainable growth through impactful knowledge and drive innovation by fostering stakeholder collaboration.
The certification comes as part of EHL’s rigorous standards for evaluating and endorsing institutions that meet the highest benchmarks in hospitality training. With this new status, SHBM joins a prestigious network of global hospitality schools recognized for their outstanding educational programs and alignment with EHL’s value of education excellence. Having SHBM join as a certified school also presents an opportunity for EHL to broaden its exposure, benefit from new perspectives in Africa, and continue building the future of hospitality education.
Collaborating with EHL since 2019, SHBM achieved Associate level status in 2020, and in 2024, it reached Certified level status, demonstrating its commitment to the highest standards in hospitality education.
"This certification reflects the close collaboration between SHBM and EHL over the first four years of the school's development. It highlights the collective efforts of students, collaborators, and the entire UM6P ecosystem, all dedicated to nurturing a sustainable, quality-driven hospitality institution." said Mrs. Syrab El Malti, Director of SHBM. “It marks another significant step forward in our mission to equip students with the knowledge, competencies, and, more importantly, the mindset needed to excel in the dynamic field of hospitality while having a positive impact on their community and beyond”.
The EHL Certified Network is renowned for its standards in hospitality education. Thus, this certification allows SHBM to offer students an internationally recognized credential. As a certified institution, SHBM will contribute and benefit from exclusive collaborations with EHL, including access to Brand & Network connections, comprehensive Data & resources, Quality & Continuous Improvement, and valuable Student Benefits.
The approval of SHBM as a “Certified” school underscores its commitment to innovation and excellence in hospitality education, aligning with its vision to shape future leaders in the hospitality sector. The certification also opens new avenues for SHBM students, providing them with enhanced opportunities for international exposure and career advancement.
